Granular Media CO2 Sachets Enhance Capture of Hard-to-Collect Species

A slow-release plume of carbon dioxide and water vapor
attract Aedes aegypti, Ae. albopictus, Culex quinquefasciatus, Cx. pipiens, Cx. tarsalis, Cx. nigripalpus, Ochlerotatus japonicus, Oc. triseriatus, and others.

Recent research in solid-phase chemistry has resulted in the development of a granular formulation that releases carbon dioxide and water vapor for 24 hours after activation. Since January of 2003 this patented technology has been the subject of continuous laboratory and field testing by multiple US government medical, agricultural and veterinary entomology groups.
The John W. Hock Company has created Granular Media CO 2 Sachets (P/N 1.25) for use with CDC, Fay-Prince, New Standard Light traps, Clark's ABC trap, and traps made by Hausherr and BioQuip. Click here for more product information.

Photocell-Controlled CO2Release Now and Option For The New Standard Miniature Light Trap

A small precision pneumatic valve is controlled by the trap's internal photoswitch that turns on and off the release of CO2 with light level.

The New Standard Miniature Light Trap (Model 1012-CO2) includes the Model 1012 trap and comes supplied with an adjustable regulator, solenoid-operated gas shut-off valve, all lines and connectors, and two sizes of in-line restriction orifices that permit you to adjust the flow rate from 100 to 500 ml per minute. The CO2 gas and light turn on at dusk and off at dawn. All you need to supply is a beverage industry CO2 tank. This option is also available as a factory retrofit (P/N 1.15) for previously purchased Model 1012 traps.
